Unpopular opinion: The best weddings are not remembered only for how beautiful they looked. Rather, it's the experience your guests felt during the entire event.
At The Secret Haven, we love coming up with unique wedding ideas that feel personal without becoming too cheesy (we have had our fair share of cringe worthy moments where we had to step out for a while).
After hosting over 600 weddings, we have come up with four original ideas to make a wedding feel more interactive, meaningful, and fun!!
DISCLAIMER: WE HAD TO USE AI TO GENERATE THE PICTURES SO THAT YOU CAN VISUALISE THEM. ONLY BECAUSE THESE ARE ALL ORIGINAL IDEAS FROM OUR COORDINATORS.
Unique Wedding Ideas for An Amazing Wedding Experience at The Secret Haven
1. Pond fishing Pasar Malam Wedding Lucky Draw

Standard lucky draw from a bowl? BORING!!!! How about turning it into our very own pasar malam sure win lucky draw game!!
Guests “fish” a rubber ducky from a small inflatable pool, similar to the pond fishing games you millennials remember from pasar malam stalls. Each duck can have a number, sticker, or hidden mark underneath to show what prize the guest won.
It is simple, nostalgic, and easy for guests of all ages to enjoy. Bonus points for making it specially Singaporean. (hello Mr, Sir Lawrence, any bonus for us to enjoy for incorporating SG flair to our weddings?)
How to make it happen:
Buy a small inflatable pool, around 1.5 metres wide and place it near the reception area, so guests can take part before the banquet starts or during breaks in the programme.
Psst: The Secret Haven has a very nice outdoor area where you can create a watery mess and we won't get mad at you because we have plants that can drink the spilled water
To keep the game smooth, assign one friend/family member to manage the queue and explain the rules. If children are attending, this can also become a lovely family-friendly station, as long as there is supervision and the pool is kept shallow and safe.
Make it extra special by customising the rubber duckies with mini veils, bow ties, or tiny tags with the couple’s initials.
2. Create a blessing tree that grows with the couple

99% of the weddings we've hosted have an angpao box. But what if you let your guests hang their angpao on......A MONEY TREE!!!?? It's like extra HUAT HUAT + extra BLESSINGS.
How to make it happen:
Buy an actual Money Tree from a nursery or plant shop and set it up at the reception table. Guests can hang their angpao and well wishes on the tree using small envelopes, tags, ribbons, or clips.
After the wedding, the couple brings the tree home. Over time, it becomes a living reminder of the people who celebrated with them.
The Money Tree represents prosperity and good fortune so it's totally fits with the tradition of giving angpao, while adding a more personal touch to it.
To make the station look wedding ready, prepare:
A healthy Money Tree in a nice pot, medium size would be good, something you can put on the floor next to your TV/Balcony.
Small message cards or tags
Red or Gold strings
A short sign explaining what guests should do
A tray or helper for heavier angpao packets if needed
3. Let guests build the table centrepieces together

Floral centrepieces are usually arranged before guests arrive. But what if, you let your guests bless you and design the centrepieces their own!?
Start with empty vases on each dining table. Then set up a florist stand with fresh cut flowers. As guests arrive, each person picks one flower and places it into the vase at their table.
By the time dinner begins, every table has a centrepiece made by the people sitting there.
The most meaningful part is that each flower can carry a meaning or blessing for the couple. Small cards at the florist stand can explain what each bloom represents.
Flower | Meaning |
Rose | Love and devotion |
Lily | Purity and renewal |
Sunflower | Joy and warmth |
Eustoma | Gratitude and appreciation |
Baby’s breath | Everlasting love |
Orchid | Elegance and strength |
we need a 早生贵子 flower just to see if all the relative tables are filled with them HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Guests can choose based on colour, beauty, or meaning. Some may pick a flower that reflects their wish for the couple. Others may simply choose the one that makes them smile.
As more and more guests fill the hall, the venue will also slowly transform to be more vibrant and beautiful. What began as empty vases becomes a room full of collaborative arrangements, each one different and with a special meaning.
Make the wedding feel like an experience, not just an event
A memorable wedding does not need to be packed with expensive surprises and flowers. We strongly believe that the best ideas are the ones that invite people to participate.
